a few days left

It’s happening so soon. This Friday, 11:00, my home. My goodbye! Come, bring your comrades, and have a lemonade with me in the garden. I might say a few words, you can too.

The past days have been stressful. A bit over a week ago, the stress finally hit. Was already wondering when it would. I just seemed so chill and relaxed about it for the longest time, until a week ago. Just been perpetually stressed, excited, and nervous about it. It just finally became… real. Like, I’m leaving this room of mine behind, the people that I love will keep growing, and I won’t be a part of that. Nostalgia?

I’ve worked my last 9-hour shifts for 3 days in a row: Friday, Saturday and Sunday (as a bus driver in Amsterdam). I hung up a sign as well, with so many cute interactions as a result. Another result: completely fried brain. I’ve felt like a machine, just following my agenda planned hour-to-hour. Purchasing the final items, preparing and testing out my bike, leaving things in Amsterdam properly (relationships, my room, etc). This website has been getting love as well: I tried to expand our ‘resources’ section (still lots left to do, but it’s a start!).

A week ago I also uploaded the video on stopping deportations. Lots of positive responses on that: made my heart warm. Building a culture of resistance, where we know how to execute these kinds of actions, is vital. For all reading this: I encourage you to reach out to MiGreat and ask for a preparation document! It’s very informative. The family in question of that video, the Babayants, returned to the AZC in Emmen a few days ago, and they seem to be relieved about it.

i’m also being taken care of. this was with Stijn during Golden hour, in an apartment on Kinkerstraat. without those who love me, i’d never ever ever in a million years be able to do this project. it’s only through the glorious people around me that i can undertake such a trip. so, thanks stijn, thanks sav, thanks jasmijn, thanks housemates, parents, friends, fellow activists, organisers, and all the other creatures who i cannot all name.

final goodbye: friday august 2nd, 11:00, my home, Amsterdam.

will you come? it’ll be in the garden, and you can say some words. or just be silent and wave. i’ll miss you.
